The MRO Asia-Pacific 2026 conference and exhibition, held from 22 to 24 September was another record-setting edition, bringing together more than 8,000 attendees and 390 exhibitors. This year, the exhibition spanned three halls at Singapore EXPO, while the two-day conference featured more than 60 industry speakers. Asia-Pacific’s growing importance to the global aviation market was clear, with international visitors and exhibitors making up astrong presence at the event.

Singapore Pavilion: 44 companies

Organised by AAIS, the Singapore Pavilion at MRO APAC 2026 was our largest yet, with 44 Singapore-based companies showcasing capabilities across the aerospace value chain. Exhibitors spanned MRO and component support, including approved repair stations, avionics and cabin MRO; manufacturing and engineering, from precision engineering and OEM suppliers to surface treatment and finishing; and advanced technologies such as additive manufacturing, industrial laser technology, robotics, automation and AI. Other areas of the aviation value chain on display at the pavilion included logistics, testing and inspection, machining systems and tools, ground support equipment, and defence capabilities.

The diversity of the Pavilion reflected the breadth and depth of Singapore’s aerospace ecosystem, with companies of different specialisations coming together to serve an increasingly connected regional and global aftermarket.

Connecting the industry

The Singapore Pavilion formed part of a broader programme of activities supported by AAIS throughout the week.

Together with GIFAS, AAIS organised the France–Singapore Aerospace Industry Dialogue and Networking on 21 September, held EDB. The dialogue brought together French and Singapore aerospace companies and stakeholders to discuss the Asia-Pacific aerospace and MRO market, supply chain resilience and opportunities for closer collaboration. With more than 30 French companies participating in MRO APAC, it provided a timely platform for the Singapore and French communities to connect ahead of the show. Read More.

Projecting industry voice, AAIS President Mr Wong Yue Jeen joined the MRO APAC conference programme in a session on “Working Together for Supply Chain Resilience”, sharing perspectives on the challenges facing aerospace supply chains and the importance of collaboration across the ecosystem.

AAIS Management Committee member Mr Rahul Shah, Senior Vice President Strategic Growth and Business Development APAC, MEA and Africa at AAR International, moderated a discussion on “Cost, Reliability, and Innovation in Component MRO”, exploring challenges in the component supply chain and the factors driving scarcity. The session highlighted the importance of diversification, regional partnerships, digital visibility and closer collaboration between suppliers, OEMs and operators.

AAIS Senior Advisor Mr Sia Kheng Yok also served on the judging committee for the 7th MRO Asia-Pacific Awards, alongside senior industry representatives from airlines, MROs and aviation organisations. The 2026 awards recognised excellence across areas including MRO, technology, engineering, leadership, and next-generation innovation.

Throughout the week, AAIS also connected with visiting delegations and international partners, including representatives from Québec (Canada), Dubai South (UAE) and Chiba prefecture (Japan), providing opportunities to exchange perspectives and explore potential areas for cooperation.

Our team was on hand to share more about AAIS and its role in supporting the aerospace community, while distributing copies of the Singapore Aerospace Industry Directory (SAID) 2026 and Aerospace Singapore, including the latest issue’s feature on Smart MRO.

Announcements and milestones

The week also saw a number of Singapore aerospace companies announce new facilities, partnerships and capability developments.

Growing MRO and aftermarket capabilities

  • Safran Landing Systems inaugurated the expansion of its Singapore MRO centre, a US$22 million investment supported by EDB. The new facility at 66 Loyang Way, makes SLSSS Safran’s largest landing gear MRO facility in Asia-Pacific and its second-largest worldwide. The new facility is expected to increase capacity by around 40 per cent.
  • VSE Aviation Singapore officially opened its new facility at Seletar Aerospace Park, with AAIS Chief Executive Mr Chew Hwee Yong as Guest-of-Honour. The new office bringing the VSE Aviation and Kellstrom Aerospace teams together under one roof to support its growing Asia-Pacific operations and better serve customers in the region.
  • Coway Engineering & Marketing announced the expansion of its operations at Seletar Aerospace Park, adding to its capabilities and footprint in Singapore.
  • ST Engineering and Collins Aerospace expanded their collaboration through multi-year agreements covering component repair, spare parts and support for Boeing 787, Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 platforms
  • AerOne marked a major milestone as the first facility in Singapore to receive Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA) Best Management Practices accreditation for contracted disassembly activities.
  • Chromalloy entered into a Premium Channel Partner Agreement with IER MRO Industries, strengthening their aftermarket cooperation.

Strengthening skills, talent and training

  • Singapore Aero Engine Services (SAESL) announced four new partnerships with Temasek Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, the Institute of Technical Education and A*STAR’s Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre, covering talent development and technology collaboration.
  • Boeing Singapore Training Campus marked its 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of supporting pilot and maintenance training in the region.

Key takeaways from the week

The discussions and developments around MRO APAC 2026 also highlighted several broader trends shaping the Asia-Pacific MRO market:

  • Airlines and governments are investing more in local MRO capabilities to reduce dependence on overseas providers and strengthen supply chain resilience.
  • Engine MRO remains under pressure, with new-generation engines facing longer shop visit times, driven by parts shortages and constraints in repair capacity.
  • Growing maintenance demand across Asia-Pacific is putting pressure on available MRO capacity, contributing to longer turnaround times for some services.
  • Investment in component repair and maintenance capabilities is increasing as companies look to improve turnaround times and strengthen supply chain resilience.
  • Singapore continues to be a leading MRO hub in the region, supported by established aerospace ecosystems, capabilities and expertise, alongside Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong.
  • India represents the largest long-term growth opportunity, with rapid fleet expansion driving major investments in domestic MRO infrastructure and capabilities.
  • Workforce and skills shortages continue to constrain industry growth, reinforcing the need for sustained investment in skills development, talent attraction and retention.
Looking ahead

Fritz Carlson, CEO of Acme Manufacturing, which has participated since 2019, described MRO APAC 2026 as the company’s “best MROAP since we started”.

That sense of momentum was already carrying into the next edition, with several exhibitors looking ahead to 2027 and considering larger booths even before this year’s show had wrapped up.

MRO Asia-Pacific is scheduled to return from 21 to 23 September 2027, with the inaugural Aerospace Maintenance Council (AMC) Competition @ MRO Asia-Pacific, promising added buzz and an added focus on maintenance skills and workforce development.

AAIS looks forward to building on this momentum, connecting Singapore companies with international opportunities and supporting the industry as it continues to grow.
