The Singapore Aerospace Quality Group (SAQG) convened for an exclusive briefing on 29 August 2025, covering upcoming updates to the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) standards. The session, led by Mr Jeffrey Ho, a member of the IAQG writing team, offered participants an early look into the evolving standards framework and practical insights to help them stay ahead of industry changes.
Key points from the briefing:
- New Prefix: IAQG standards will soon be prefixed with “IA”, replacing previous identifiers such as AS, EN, SJAC, and JISQ. In accordance with IAQG ICOP Resolution 174, IA-prefixed standards will supersede all prior versions
- IA 9100 Revision: An incremental revision of IA 9100 is nearing publication, ahead of the next ISO 9001 update. A comprehensive revision will follow the release of ISO 9001:2026, with similar timelines planned for IA 9110 and IA 9120.
- Introduction of IA 9150: A new Foundational Quality Management System Requirements standard, IA 9150, is being developed by the IAQG. Unlike IA 9100, IA 9150 will not be based on the ISO 9001 QMS framework, but is designed as a digital-ready (machine-readable) standard focusing on elements that directly influence product quality. When finalised, IA 9150 will be a certifiable standard as an effective AQMS alternative to 9100 and ISO 9001 for ASD organisations providing low to moderately complex products or services. IA 9150 remains in progress, with further refinements expected.
With over 50 participants joining virtually, the webinar provided timely insights for organisations to anticipate changes, assess potential impacts, and prepare for smooth certification transitions.
The SAQG looks forward to hosting more sessions as updates to the IA 9100 Series continue being rolled out.
