The Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore) recently concluded a business mission to Tokyo, Japan, from 6 – 9 July 2026. The mission brought together a delegation group of 11 participants from over seven organisation across industry, academia and government to learn about Japan’s space ecosystem, identify opportunities for bilateral collaboration and facilitate business opportunities between Singapore and Japanese space industries.
During the course of the mission, the delegation attended the SPACETIDE 2026 show in Tokyo, one of the leading international commercial space conferences in the Asia-Pacific region, where industry leaders, innovators and stakeholders gathered to discuss new developments and trends in the region’s space landscape. The event provided the delegation with opportunities to attend thought-leadership panels and seminars, meet key players in the sector, and connect with organisations, government agencies, and exhibitors involved in projects and emerging space technologies.
A highlight of the trip was the Singapore-Japan MOU Signing Ceremony on the first day of the SPACETIDE show, where multiple partnerships were announced between government agencies, associations and industry. During the ceremony, AAIS signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with our counterpart association in Japan, the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies to facilitate closer industry cooperation between Singapore and Japan, particularly in aerospace, unmanned aircraft systems and space-related fields.
As part of the visit, the delegation also met with various Japanese companies and ecosystem partners in the local space industry, such as the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), JSAT Mobile, Mitsubishi Corporation, LEO Shachu, Incubate Fund and Fusic. The company meetings and networking events provided opportunities for the delegation to exchange views with Japanese industry players, understand ongoing initiatives, and explore potential partnership opportunities.
The mission marked a meaningful step in strengthening Singapore–Japan industry ties and deepening engagement between the space ecosystems in both countries. It also provided a valuable platform for AAIS members to build relationships, identify collaboration opportunities and explore business opportunities in emerging sector and overseas markets.
AAIS looks forward to building on the momentum from the visit and working with Japanese partners to facilitate continued dialogue, business networking and collaborative initiatives in developing the Singapore Space ecosystem.
