The Office for Space Technology & Industry (OSTIn) held the 2025 edition of its annual Singapore Space Year-in-Review on 24 November at EDB, bringing together stakeholders from across the ecosystem for a consolidated view of progress made and priorities ahead. AAIS and members of our Singapore Space Community were pleased to participate in a session rich with updates, opportunities and networking.
The briefing began with OSTIn’s presentation, led by Executive Director Jonathan Hung, who provided a comprehensive snapshot of efforts over the past year and a forward look at strategic focus areas. This included developments across Singapore’s space industry, business activity and research landscape, aligned with the national space strategy – Next Bound of Development – released earlier this year. OSTIn also highlighted advances in international partnerships, including with India, the UAE and the wider Middle East, continued work with partners including UNOOSA and the European Space Agency, and deepening engagement across ASEAN.
Programme updates followed, with particular attention called to the Earth Observation Initiative and the Space Technology Development Programme (STDP). Participants received an early preview of the upcoming grant call on satellite remote sensing for carbon monitoring, covering both green and blue carbon and the evolution of dMRV methodologies. Madin Maseeh, President of the Maldives Space Research Organisation (MSRO), invited Singapore space entities to leverage opportunities for collaboration with MSRO, particularly in areas where the Maldives can offer unique datasets and operational environments. OSTIn also outlined major space events scheduled for early 2026: the Space Summit (2–3 February), the Singapore Space Symposium (4 February) and CYSAT Asia (5 February).
AAIS was invited to share our role as the central industry body representing Singapore’s space stakeholders and how we foster a cohesive and collaborative Singapore Space Community. AAIS Chief Executive Sia Kheng Yok provided an update on our ongoing activities as the voice of industry. These include publishing key references such as the Singapore Space Industry Directory and Aerospace Singapore magazine; organising industry seminars, learning visits and career promotion events; and managing the Career Conversion Programme to help companies on-board and reskill professionals into space-related roles. AAIS also represents Singapore internationally to strengthen visibility and partnerships for the national space sector.
AAIS is proud to partner with Experia Events for the inaugural Space Summit, as a supporting association and coordinator of the Singapore Pavilion. Supported by Enterprise Singapore, the Pavilion features a curated showcase of some of the most innovative and influential players across our aerospace and space ecosystem. It is set to serve as a strong platform for the local ecosystem to showcase our capabilities, meet international partners and raise Singapore’s profile on the global stage.
A Q&A with OSTIn representatives followed, allowing participants to engage directly on strategic priorities, upcoming opportunities and areas for collaboration.
The session concluded with two showcases: a live demonstration by NTU’s Earth Observatory of Singapore on the use of its Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) platform for disaster response, and a presentation by Nika.Eco on the applications of its GeoAI platform and the expanding potential for data-driven environmental insights.
AAIS extends our appreciation to OSTIn for convening the community and providing a clear view of what lies ahead.
