AAIS in collaboration with LRQA held a seminar on “Integrating Sustainability and Responsible Sourcing into Your Organisation” on 27 September 2024. The event brought together aerospace professionals to discuss sustainability in operations as well as responsible sourcing, increasingly important aspects in meeting industry regulations and expectations.

Michael Daniel, an AAIS Panel of Expert member, opened with a sharing on counterfeit and suspected unapproved parts in aerospace system, including alleged bogus parts and documentation fraud, avionics theft and others. He discussed the FAA’s Suspected Unapproved Parts (SUP) programme, explaining how stakeholders can report suspicious activities. Michael also highlighted the growing threat of counterfeit parts and outlined steps for organisations to mitigate risks, particularly through proper data plate identification and avoiding fraudulent markings.

Katie Yewdall, Director of Sustainability Consulting at LRQA Asia Pacific, followed with a session on integrating sustainability into aerospace operations. She outlined key regulations and offered a step-by-step guide on managing carbon emissions, with a focus on Scope 3 emissions and setting decarbonisation targets. Kathy underscored the importance of industry-wide collaboration to achieve long-term sustainability.

Participants enjoyed robust discussions with speakers and the networking reception. AAIS thanks all speakers and participants for their contributions and looks forward to more collaborations and exchanges to drive advancements in the aerospace sector.
