AAIS was pleased to welcome a delegation from the Civil Aviation Academy (CAA) of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 28 January, in collaboration with Temasek Polytechnic (TP).
Established in 1995, CAA is a leading training institution for civil aviation specialists in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. As part of their visit to Singapore, CAA signed an MoU with TP to strengthen academic and professional cooperation in areas such as aviation management and aerospace engineering. The partnership will facilitate student and faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives, and the sharing of academic resources.
The delegation to Seletar Aerospace Park (SAP) included Mr Beken K. Seidakhmetov (Chairman of the Board-Rector), Ms Aiman Tileubayeva (Director, Business School), and Mr Yakub Kurbanov (Head, Research and Competencies Center), who were received by AAIS Chief Executive Sia Kheng Yok.
AAIS shared insights into Singapore’s aerospace industry, covering its global connectivity, MRO sector, transformation roadmaps, and recent investments. In turn, Mr Kurbanov provided an overview of CAA’s research activities, international collaborations, and its role as a certified aviation training centre aligned with ICAO, IATA, and other global standards.
The visit builds on strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and Singapore, following Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit in May 2024. During his visit, agreements were signed to enhance cooperation in six key areas: economic integration, security, enterprise standards, intellectual property rights protection, higher education, and legal dispute resolution.
Given CAA’s interest in innovation and research collaborations, AAIS also informed the delegation about the International Centre for Aviation Innovation (ICAI)— an initiative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) focused on developing transformative airport solutions, as a potential avenue for future cooperation.
The visit concluded with an exchange of gifts and discussions on future collaboration opportunities.
