Major General (Ret) Bruno Berthet, Chairman of GIFAS’ International Commission, receiving AAIS heritage book, Propel, from AAIS President

At International Paris Air Show 2025, AAIS and GIFAS – Groupement des Industries Françaises Aéronautiques et Spatiales – marked our eighth year of partnership and the 60th anniversary of France-Singapore diplomatic relations with a joint seminar on Aviation and Space. This was the third such joint seminar organised by both parties in Paris and Singapore over the years.

Mr Herve Derrey, Chairman of GIFAS’ Space Committee and CEO of Thales Alenia Space, and Mr Jonathan Hung, Executive Director of Office for Space Technology & Industry, Singapore (OSTIn), spoke on the development and focus areas for the Space sector in the respective countries. Mr Hung also introduced the Singapore Space companies in attendance.

Mr Matthieu Pere, AAIS Management Committee Member and CEO of Safran Electronics and Defense Services Asia, spoke on behalf of GIFAS from the perspective of a Frenchman in Singapore. He noted the strong business opportunities in Singapore and the Asian region, even as the industry also shared similar constraints as the rest of the world – talent, supply chain and rising costs.

Mr Wong Yue Jeen, President of AAIS and CCO of SIA Engineering Company, offered an insightful view of international cooperation in Asia. He highlighted the experience of SIAEC operating across the region and through a network of joint ventures.

The event concluded with a presentation by Mr Wong of AAIS’ heritage book, Propel, to MG(R) Bruno Berthet, Chairman of GIFAS’ International Commission and Chairman ARESIA. We thanked Mr Cédric Post, GIFAS’ Deputy Director European & International Affairs, for his partnership in planning and executing the event.
