On 24 January 2025, AAIS held its inaugural Student Leaders Summit at Embry-Riddle Asia, which brought together industry representatives and students passionate about aviation and aerospace from universities across Singapore, including Embry-Riddle Asia, NUS, NTU, SIT, SUSS and SUTD. This kickstarts the new AAIS-Affiliated Student Clubs Initiative, which aims to engage students passionate about aviation and aerospace by promoting the industry, facilitating exposure, and communicating industry opportunities. Participating student clubs onboard this initiative include aviation and aerospace clubs from Embry-Riddle Asia, NTU, NUS, and SUTD.

As the lead event for the new AAIS Affiliated Student Clubs Initiative, the Student Leaders Summit began with a networking breakfast to welcome the attendees. The programme started with an opening address by AAIS Chief Executive, Mr Sia Kheng Yok. Followed by a captivating keynote speech from CAAS Senior Director (Aviation Development Group), Ms Glory Wee, on “Frontiers in Aviation and Aerospace: A Singapore Perspective”, on the exciting developments within the Singapore aviation and aerospace industries.

A highlight of the morning was the executive panel discussion that commenced with individual panellists presentations on the topic “Industry Frontiers: How Organisations are Bridging the Gaps in Innovation to Shape the Future”. The panel discussion featured representatives from Rolls Royce Singapore, Mr Oliver Chamberlain, Pratt & Whitney Component Solutions / Component Aerospace Services, Mr Pang Yong Kiang and RSAF ME6 Dr Reuben Lim. Moderated by Ms Kim Chua, the panellists and participants engaged in robust discussions exploring topics on innovation, leadership, organisational cultures, and sustainability in the aerospace industry, from both commercial and military perspectives.

The morning programme then concluded with a networking lunch, where students had the chance to engage with speakers and various industry representatives.

In the afternoon, student leaders from the four AAIS-Affiliated Student Clubs – Embry-Riddle Asia Student Government Association, NUS Aviation Club, NTU Aerospace Society, and SUTD Aviation Interest Group, went on an exclusive company visit to Pratt & Whitney Component Solutions. During the tour, they had the chance to observe close up various operations and transformation efforts in action. The day then wrapped up with a hands-on workshop, where student leaders from the four student clubs came together to collaborate, brainstorm, and explore potential opportunities for future partnerships.
