The Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore) (AAIS) and the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), formalising our longstanding partnership and opening new avenues for collaboration across the domains of aerospace, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and space.
Signed on 6 July 2026 in Tokyo, the MOU provides a framework for deeper industry engagement between Singapore and Japan through business networking, knowledge exchange, delegation visits and collaborative initiatives.
Singapore and Japan share strong aerospace industries underpinned by advanced engineering, technology and innovation. As both countries continue to build capabilities in emerging sectors, the partnership will create opportunities for companies, researchers and institutions to connect, exchange expertise and explore new areas of collaboration.
The MOU was signed by AAIS Chief Executive Mr Hwee Yong Chew and SJAC President Mr Takumi Fujino, and witnessed by Chief Executive of the National Space Agency of Singapore (NSAS) Ms Le Na Ngiam and President of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Dr Hiroshi Yamakawa, on the sidelines of the SPACETIDE conference.
The signing also formed part of a broader series of Singapore–Japan partnerships announced at SPACETIDE, highlighting the growing momentum for collaboration across the two countries’ space ecosystems. These included:
- NSAS and JAXA signing a Memorandum of Cooperation to deepen collaboration in space technology, applications, science, industry development and policy.
- Nanyang Technological University’s Satellite Research Centre (SaRC) and FUSIC partnering to explore AI solutions for satellite ground operations.
- Transcelestial and Warpspace are collaborating to test interoperable laser communications links between ground and space networks.
Together, these partnerships demonstrate the growing depth of Singapore–Japan collaboration across government, industry and academia.
AAIS looks forward to working closely with SJAC, NSAS and our members and partners to strengthen connections between the Singapore and Japanese aerospace ecosystems and create new opportunities for collaboration in aerospace, UAS and space.
