About the Course:
The aim of this course is to provide a detailed & practical understanding in terms of processes and procedures relating to the regulatory requirements to manage and develop spares procurement and the Aviation Store in terms of effective management procedures, and associated characteristics of the facility.

The course also focuses on the various processes and procedures for staff involved in:
• Stores Management and Receipt Inspection;
• Airworthiness and Receipt Certification principles (Including Electrostatic Inspection);
• Development of your own local procedures for use in Stores and Goods Inspection areas
• Reviewing the problems associated with bogus parts, not least where & how to verify status.

Note: This course may be delivered as a single standalone course, or combined with the instructor’s course “Logistics and Stores Inspection Procedures” course to form a complete Supply Chain Module.

On completion of training, candidates will be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of Logistics & Stores Inspection Procedures, not least the general characteristics of the aviation stores facility.


Who Should Attend?
It is for persons who are actively involved in the management or Interaction of the Part 145 organizations Stores Management Systems including Stores Personnel, Certifying Engineers & Technicians, purchasing & procurement personnel and their associated managers.

The course is also applicable to Approved continuing airworthiness management organisation under Part M, Part ML, Part CAMO & Part CAO requirements, and are involved in the procurement of spares for their aircraft (Aeroplanes & Helicopters).

 
Course Content:
1. Define basic terminology that is typically utilised in the Stores & Approved Maintenance Environment;
2. State the regulatory requirements for maintaining an effective stores facility;
3. Discuss the ISO AS9100 Aerospace Standard and its application;
4. Describe the development of fully-compliant stores, including inspection, storage & quarantine procedures
− Explain receiving inspection techniques (components, consumables; requiring special attention: engines, LG etc)
− Review Stores Receipt Guidance Documentation
− Explain the requirements for handling and storage of Chemicals
− Describe, dangerous goods storage, packing & preparation for shipping
− Define the requirements for the disposal of hazardous waste
5. Discuss Parts Manufacturing & European Parts approvals and why stores inspectors must be aware of them;
6. State the difference between Fabricated and Manufactured Parts;
7. Discuss the role of safety & quality systems in the spares procurement and storage environment;
8. Provide an overview of Safety Management in the Stores Environment;
9. Discuss and develop Supplier Evaluation procedures;
10. Discuss component acceptance in relation to continuing airworthiness requirements;
11. Describe & Explain Authorized Release Certificates;
12. Discuss, Dual & Triple Certifications;
13. Discuss On Condition, Life limited Components and Configuration Control;
14. State ATA 300 – Packing Requirements;
15. Discuss Electro Static Discharge Sensitive (ESDS) components, and how to handle them;
16. Define the problems associated with Suspect Unapproved (Bogus) Parts, how to identify a suspected item and what to do next.
