AAIS organised an exclusive visit for its RSAF members to Changi Airport Group (CAG) on 21 June 2024. Hosted by Mr Seoh Zhi Wen, Vice President of Innovation and Process Enhancement at CAG, the visit offered a glimpse into the innovation journey and use of cutting-edge technology at CAG’s Engineering & Development Cluster.

Zhi Wen and his team provided a comprehensive overview of their digitalisation and automation efforts in asset maintenance and management. The session touched on the application of digital twin technology, point cloud data, sensorisation, augmented and virtual reality, among others. Members learned how Digital Twins, virtual replicas of physical assets, have proven invaluable by enabling remote access, scenario simulation, and streamlining operations at the airport. Other innovations at CAG were also discussed, including the Fault Management System and AIMS (Asset Inspection and Management System) – in-house developed applications that have enhanced their approach to fault detection and resolution.

A guided tour of the Fault Management Centre provided members with a firsthand view of these systems in action. The CAG team explained their daily monitoring and management processes, offering valuable insights into the practical applications, limitations, and challenges associated with these technologies. They also emphasised the importance of continuous improvement and innovation culture at CAG.

Interactive Q&A sessions with RSAF members fostered lively discussions, with the exchanges sparking new ideas for potential innovations within their respective fields. We thank CAG, Zhi Wen and his team for hosting this informative session.
