AAIS marked its first year as the professional development partner for Air Force Engineers (AFEs), having signed an MOU with the Republic of Singapore Air Force in July 2023. In a bespoke arrangement, more than 300 AFEs opted in to participate in tailored programmes under our corporate partnership with the RSAF. In the course of FY2023/24,
- 82 AFEs attended SAR66 preparatory training on M03 Electrical Fundamentals, M06 Materials and Hardware, and M08 Basic Aerodynamics.
- 5 learning journeys were organised for a total of 60 participants to Bell Textron Asia, Changi Airport Group, SIA Engineering Company’s Aviation and Workplace Safety Centres, Volocopter Showcase at ITE, and SESTO Robotics and Hope Technik.
- AFEs were also invited to aerospace conferences and seminars in the calendar, including the Singapore Aerospace Technology Leadership Forum co-organised with A*STAR, seminars on ‘Unlocking Procurement Wins’ and the ‘Singapore Sustainable Air Hub Blueprint’, and webinars on Autonomous Drone Technologies, eVTOLs, and the Aerospace Open Innovation Challenge briefing.
- There was also opportunities to learn about the latest trends by visiting tradeshows such as MRO Asia Pacific, Global Urban & Advanced Air Summit Asia, Singapore Airshow, and Drones and Uncrewed Asia.
In the first months of the new financial year, we have opened additional opportunities for more AFEs to visit SIA Engineering’s safety centres, Changi Airport Group operations centre, Fokker Services Asia, Transport Investigation and Safety Bureau, and seminars/workshops on AI in Aviation, and Responsible Sourcing. We also thank the RSAF for their participation and support for ARTC’s Aerospace Pillar Technology Forum, Aerospace Open Innovation Challenge Demo Day, and our Annual General Meeting. We look forward to designing new programmes and working with partners to develop more relevant content for the professional development of AFEs.
